Nicholas Lawrence Design provides original and insightful interior design for a smart clientele. The firm’s partners, Nicholas Hertneck and Lawrence Lazzaro, lead a team of talented designers creating projects that are both timeless and fashionable. From their Southern California design studio and store, Modern Hacienda, the creative team handles logistics and travels to projects throughout North America and the Caribbean. The firm’s work has been seen in Architectural Digest, World of Interiors, Ocean Home, California Homes, CA Home + Design, Palm Springs Life, Los Angeles Times, and Daily News.


 

NICHOLAS HERTNECK

Nicholas Hertneck is the Principal Designer at Nicholas Lawrence Design Associates LLC. Early in his career Nicholas designed country clubs while working at Robert Altevers Associates and corporate headquarters during his time at A.C. Martin Partners. In 1990 he formed his own design firm, Piper Hertneck Interior Design, and worked on projects across the United States and in the Caribbean including corporate headquarters, retail stores, restaurants, residential resort compounds, urban apartments, and country estates. Nicholas earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from Cal State Fullerton in Environmental Design and has been a California Certified Interior Designer, a professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers and the Interior Design Society. Twice Nicholas has been the recipient of the Gold Nugget Award presented by the Pacific Coast Builders Council.

 

LAWRENCE LAZZARO

Lawrence Lazzaro is the Managing Partner of Nicholas Lawrence Design Associates LLC and Modern Hacienda. In his early career Lawrence was a restaurant operator in New York City overseeing a boutique restaurant company with a portfolio of multiple New York Times rated three-star restaurants. With a team of more than one hundred fifty people the restaurants served more than a thousand guests per day. Lawrence studied Music Performance and Theater at Oberlin Conservatory of Music and Northern Illinois University, and Interior Design at the Academy of Art University. His interior design work reflects his personal experience in a variety creative arts and a passion for the study of humanities.

  • Interior Designer, Yujie Ji, earned her master's degree in Interior Design from Savannah College of Art and Design and holds a BA in Interior Design from Dalian Art College (Dalian, China). After interning with Marie Burgos Design in NYC, Yujie joined the start-up hospitality brand, WanderJaunt, where she played an active role developing branded short-term vacation rentals. Yujie is skilled at rendering digital art and drawing by hand. Her special interests in sustainability and wellness bring a current and relevant point-of-view to our projects.

  • Purchasing Manager, Pierre Keshishian, began his career in jewelry manufacturing as a skilled precious gems and diamond setter for David Webb, then for Oscar Heyman Brothers – New York City. Later he received his degree in business and technology, progressing his skills to manage and procure purchases, coordinate deliveries & installations. His interests include design, and economics. He has been working with Nicholas Hertneck since the year 2000 and is fluent in Arabic, Armenian, Turkish & French.
